NGO HOLDS END OF THE YEAR REACHOUT TO WIDOWS AND VULNERABLE WOMEN

In keeping up with its culture of bringing together Widows, Vulnerable Women & Children, the Helpline Social Support Initiative, conducted their annual end of the year reachout aimed at distributing clothes & food items such as Rice, Beans, Corn, and smoked fish to these groups of people.

This initiative not only provides immediate relief but also fosters a sense of community and support among beneficiaries. By continuously engaging with widows and vulnerable women, the program has empowered them to become more self-sufficient and resilient. Over time, these efforts have contributed to breaking the cycle of poverty and improving the overall quality of life for these individuals and their families.

The event holds great significance for its targeted audience, as this is a time of year when they come together to gain additional skills, showcase their products (which is the result of the consistent training provided by the Helpline Social Support Initiatives to these groups of people), share fellowship with one another, and receive food items to help them celebrate the festive season.

The reachout began with the Women from each cluster nominating a member of their clusters to learn how fancy scarves are made. Nominated persons were also required to teach this newly acquired skill to cluster members. In addition, to make learning more fun, the cluster with the most beautiful scarfs received gift items and a proposed grant to any cluster who wanted to take up the project as a start-up venture.

At the reachout were friends and partners of the Founder Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, who came to show their solidarity for her success in advocating for vulnerable women and widows since Helpline Foundation (Now Helpline Social Support Initiatives) started in 2003. Additionally, they provided exhibition exposure, sponsorship, and relevant trainings without cost to these women through their various platforms.

Official partners of the outreach include:

  • Achana Legacy Foundation.
  • Right Care Empowerment Foundation.
  • Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu (RTA) Foundation.
