Skill Acquisition Training for Rural Women
We offer training and skill acquisition to youths, women, and widows in over 30 communities. Our programs aim to empower these groups with the skills and knowledge needed for better futures. Training areas include leatherwork (bag and shoe making), catering, organic skincare, soap and disinfectant production, entrepreneurship, financial management, and digital literacy.
Promoting the Rights of Indigenous People
Over the years, the Original Inhabitants of FCT have been marginalized, with many women and girls living vulnerable lives since their ancestral land became the nation’s capital. This urbanization usurped lands used for their local agricultural economy and endangered their heritage. In response, the Resource Center for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED), supported by the MacArthur Foundation, launched the project “Promoting the Rights of the Original Inhabitants (OI) of FCT” in collaboration with indigenous NGOs, including the Helpline Foundation for the Needy, Abuja.
Non-profit revolving loan scheme
Helpline Foundation Non-Profit Revolving Loan Scheme for Vulnerable Women and Widows is an initiative that empower women and widows in under-resourced communities around North-Central Nigeria; the women are grouped into clusters based on their proximity to each other and given the financial resources, (interest-free loans and training), they need to start a new business or grow an existing one.
